Bayern Munich think Gotze has already set his heart on Liverpool switch

Another day, another Mario Gotze transfer rumour…

This one’s going to be pretty painful if it goes balls up, with speculation mounting at such a rate before we’ve even entered April.

According to the Sunday Mirror, Gotze’s club Bayern Munich have already accepted that the 23-year-old has his heart set on a move to Liverpool to reunite with Jurgen Klopp – his former manager at Borussia Dortmund.

Gotze isn’t a regular starter under Pep Guardiola and the club have yet to offer Gotze a contract extension, despite the fact his deal runs out at the end of next season.

The Sunday Mirror claim that for this reason Bayern will cash in on Liverpool’s interest in the summer and try to recoup most of the £30m they spent on Gotze originally.

This is in stark contrast to a report in German publication Sport1 which claims Gotze would actually prefer a move back to Dortmund, the club he left back in 2013 for the Bundesliga champions.

Gotze came on for Germany last night but watched his country lose a lead against England, unable to have any influence on the game.

His talent and potential is undeniable, although we’d be surprised if we did get a free run at him when the transfer window eventually opens.
