Liverpool switch attention back to January midfield target but face Man United competition

Liverpool are reportedly switching our attention back to Ruben Neves in our search for a midfielder, but may face competition from our biggest rivals.

As Sky Sports cites, were were linked with an interest in the 19-year-old, who has already captained Porto, ahead of the last January transfer window.

We seemed to have moved onto other targets this summer, but potential deals for Piotr Zielinski and Mahmoud Dahoud have hit snags, according to the Echo.

And so Portuguese daily DN Sports reckons that we could reignite our pursuit of the teenager, who is set to leave Porto after impressing some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

However, a report from O Jogo adds that Manchester United are also keen on Neves. Jorge Mendes is the player’s agent and also represents Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho.

If we lose out on Neves to United, it would be another setback for Jurgen Klopp as he aims to improve his midfield options. He better start drawing up a new shortlist.
