(Video) Emre Can’s semi-final performance divides LFC opinion; watch his highlights & decide

Emre Can did ok last night, right?

Liverpool’s central midfielder got his first start of Euro 2016, and it happened to come in the crunch semi-final clash with hosts France, which unfortunately for Can – was lost 2-0 to Didier Deschamps’ Antoine Griezmann inspired team.

Understandably, Can started nervously, but created a chance from Thomas Muller with a perfect cross and tested Hugo Lloris with a left-foot shot towards the end of the first-half. In the second, he played in an advanced midfield role – something we’ve not seen at Liverpool – and despite some nice, simple passes – was unable to break down France’s stubborn defence.

Still, the fact he’s starting for Germany in their biggest game of the tournament, and the fact Joe Allen played in midfield for Wales in the other semi-final, suggests our midfield options are not as bas as feared.
