Video: Woodburn scores again vs Wigan, hype intensifies

Ben Woodburn is just 16-years-old, but is already playing like a far more experienced player. He scored against Fleetwood Town earlier in the week, and doubled his tally of goals for the first team with another fine finish against Wigan.

He may be far from ready for the senior side on a maturity level and still has plenty of developing to do, but if he continues to grow at this pace then he’ll be a phenomenal player.

Check out his goal below:

His first goal against Fleetwood appeared to come as a bit of a shock to him, and he seemed mystified how he’d managed it. The composure he showed for the goal against Wigan smacked of confidence though, and can surely only help him in in his development.

Plenty of fans are going to want to see more of Woodburn after these fine performances, but we need to make sure we don’t rush him into the first team too quickly. Pushing a teenager into the limelight too early can be hugely detrimental, and could really stunt his growth. Hopefully he continues to grow with the youth teams and eventually we’re able to see him break into the first team.
