Jurgen Klopp says Adam Lallana has been vital to his plans since the moment he arrived

Jurgen Klopp has been showering Adam Lallana with praise in an interview.

The German said the England midfielder has been a vital cog in his machine since the moment he took over as Liverpool boss.

“Adam was, from the first second, important,” said Klopp.

“I knew him from Southampton and I thought he was a really good player. To be honest I didn’t see too much from when he played for Liverpool but I knew from Southampton he was a brilliant player.

“Since we worked together it’s always getting better. He can play different positions, he’s quick, he’s mentally strong, he’s a smart player.” (SkySports)

Some people thought the former Southampton man might drop down to the bench this season after the arrival of Sadio Mane, Gini Wijnaldum and Marko Grujic increased the competition for midfield spots, but he’s actually been in better form than ever.

He has already bagged two league goals (vs Arsenal and vs Leicester) after only getting four in the whole of last season. He also scored for England in their World Cup qualifier against Slovakia.

Lallana arrived in the summer of 2014 and for a while struggled to make an impression on the side. However, since Klopp arrived, he has arguably been our most consistent performer and is always one of the first names on the teamsheet.
