Player Liverpool had £11m bid rejected for admits loving Premier League

Towards the end of the summer transfer window, Liverpool bid £11m for Borussia Dortmund’s American playmaker Christian Pulisic, but sadly, the Germans rejected it out of hand (via the Express).

It proved how much our manager Jurgen Klopp rated Pulisic from his time at Germany, because despite the likes of Ilkay Gundogan, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Mats Hummels leaving his former club in the summer – it was the teenager he went for.

Just 18, Pulisic is already a starter for USA and regularly gets minutes for Dortmund, despite the likes of Andre Schurrle, Mario Gotze, Ousmane Dembele, Marco Reus and Shiniji Kagawa competing for spots in attacking midfield.

There’s no word as to whether we’ll eventually go back in for the teenage prodigy, but thankfully for us, the Premier League does seem like a viable future destination for Pulisic.

“There were so many players that just showed so much skill and confidence in their games. I just loved the English style,” he told the Daily Mail.

We’re not quite as impressed by his individual taste, mind, as he named Manchester United’s stalwart forward as his favourite player!

“Wayne Rooney was my guy!” Pulisic said.

Liverpool are well stocked in terms of creative midfielders, but with Klopp using a player like Adam Lallana in a central three currently, there’s clearly room for technical players all over his team.

We’d be surprised if this wasn’t the last we heard of Pulisic… He and Mahmoud Dahoud seem like our long-term transfer targets (via Tony Barrett).
