Roberto Firmino is a fan of the ‘Bobby’ nickname given to him by Liverpool’s fans!
Our Brazilian is a brilliant footballer but is also developing into a cult-hero due to his whacky ways, terrible haircuts, ridiculous teeth and penchant for putting defenders on the floor.
(Just ask Middlesbrough’s poor Calum Chambers…)
Without his best pal Coutinho he’s been a little less effective, but is still an automatic starter and proved in the second-half versus Middlesbrough on Wednesday that he’s a beautiful player to watch at his maverick best.
“I love hearing the fans calling my name and at the moment they are calling me Bobby Firmino!” he told the latest edition of the official Liverpool FC magazine.
“It is exciting when they are shouting your name and singing for you.
“That is a sign that we are doing something well and also a sign that they love what you are contributing for the team and an indicator of their overall support for the team.”
This term, Firmino has notched six goals in all competitions, but he hasn’t found the back of the net for five games, so we’d like to see him right that soon – with Monday’s Merseyside Derby a perfect time to get back among the goals.
