Comparisons between Jurgen Klopp and Jose Mourinho were always going to be a prominent feature to the build up to this weekend’s game.
Both men pose as two of the biggest characters in football and were bound to draw the media’s attention, especially ahead of such a pivotal meeting between Liverpool and Manchester United.
Jose has had his say on the German, touching on both similarities and differences between the two.
He told the Liverpool Echo: “I just think we like to win, like every manager likes to win. I’m not sure he is as calm as I am.”
“Everyone has his own personality, his own style of coaching, of leading, probably we have some qualities that are similar – for sure we have other qualities that make us really different persons and managers.”
“Looking to this match he wants to play the game as much as I want, he is as much motivated as I am.”
We agree, Klopp probably isn’t as calm as Mourinho- but that’s why we love him so much.
His exuberance and his touchline antics make him a perfect fit for this club and the love that supporters have for this club and this sport.
Fans look ahead to Sunday’s game at Old Trafford knowing full well that Klopp will be ready to contribute to his team’s fight from the sideline and that he will have done all he can to ensure the players are prepared to put in the effort.
A calm Klopp just wouldn’t be right.
