Liverpool complete transfer of Frenchman who’ll arrive in Merseyside in 2 weeks

Liverpool have finalised a deal to sign Yasser Larouci, a full French youth international.

The 16-year-old was the captain of Le Havre Under-18s, but chose not to sign a contract extension and was available to freely approach.

Manchester United were heavily interested but a report by Goal says a deal is done and that Larouci will join up with his new team-mates at our Academy base in Kirkby within the next two weeks.

Larouci plays as a no.10 and is regarded highly for his technical skill and ability to carve open opposition defences.

The last players we signed from Le Havre were Anthony Le Tallec and Florent Sinama-Pongolle in 2001, with the two teenagers regarded as potential word-beaters at the time.

They went on to have decent careers without fulfilling their early potential, so we can only hope Larouci follows in the steps of players who also went through their academy like Paul Pogba, Riyad Mahrez and Dimitri Payet instead.
