Striker rejects Liverpool interest

Young German striker Timo Werner is happy at his current club and has no immediate plans to move on, amid reports we’re considering a bid for his services.

Werner’s notched 14 Bundesliga goals this term, mighty impressive considering he’s only 21-years-old and doesn’t always play through the centre.

Werner’s capable of starting from either flank, so suits Liverpool in that he’s fluid and can play in any of the three positions in our forward line.

But our chances of buying him appear slim.

“I want to keep growing together with RB Leipzig and keep developing here,” he told FourFourTwo.

“I am still only 21 years old and still have plenty of years ahead of me. I am very happy at Leipzig. Joining this club has been a stroke of luck. I have found my way again under Ralph Hasenhuttl.”

With Daniel Sturridge expected to leave in the summer, a new striker is a real priority.

Roberto Firmino does a good job but doesn’t score enough goals, while Divock Origi has arguably regressed since last season
