Red Bull Leipzig sporting director Ralf Rangnick has again reiterated that his club will not be selling their best talent, a day after Naby Keita is set to have sat down with officials and told them of his desire to join Liverpool.

The Germans have been adamant from Day One that Keita is not for sale at any price, but the player has set his heart on a Liverpool switch and returned to Leipzig early to alert them of his intentions.

Rangnick though is undeterred and claimed, in no uncertain terms, that Keita won’t be sold.

“We will definitely not be letting any key players go. There’s nothing that will make us budge,” he worryingly began…

“It’s totally normal for clubs to be interested in our players, but that doesn’t affect our stance on the matter.”

While this appears quite damning, Guinean journalist Amadou Makadji, who’s had his ear to the ground on developments so far, is convinced that Keita will meet the Leipzig hierarchy again and could even refuse to play – as Sadio Mane did to Red Bull Salzburg in 2015 before signing for Southampton – when Rangnick was sporting director there – interestingly.

With both our key transfer targets, Keita and Virgil van Dijk, we’re stuck in limbo. We’ll pay huge money, the players want to come – but both clubs are point-blank refusing to sell.

The only way we’ll be able to acquire the pair is if they hand in transfer requests. Fingers crossed they will…
