LFC’s private meeting with Arena11 in Germany explained

Naby Keita’s representatives will meet Liverpool today in an attempt to encourage us into making one last mammoth bid for their Guinean client.

The player is fuming after a second bid of £66m was rejected for his services and has been sulking during a training camp, scything down captain Diego Demme – which led to training being cancelled.

What’s more, Ralf Rangnick has made remarks about his agents and the Guinean journalists covering the story which could be contrived as racist – meaning the player’s next move could define the outcome of the saga.

Bundesliga and LFC journalist Chris Williams explains the situation:

Jurgen Klopp and his squad are in Germany for friendlies against Hertha Berlin and Bayern Munich, but we might return with an even bigger prize if we manage to finalise a deal for the 22-year-old.

Pre-season has gone swimmingly so far, with Liverpool winning the Premier League Asia Trophy thanks to impressive performances from new signing Mo Salah and the brilliant Coutinho.

Even if we don’t secure Keita, it’s important to remember we have that dazzling pair, as well as Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, Adam Lallana and a fit again Daniel Sturridge to take on 2017/18.
