Former Red gets LFC unneccesarily excited with transfer tweet

Ex-Liverpool midfielder David Thompson sent fans into overdrive with a tweet suggesting we’d already signed Coutinho’s potential replacement.

After posting this tweet below, fans began to manically ask the Englishman who we’re bringing in – with suggestions from Samir Nasri to Gylfi Sigurdsson.

However, Thompson hadn’t meant to get us over-excited, as he was actually referring to Mo Salah – already brought in from Roma.

The Egyptian didn’t actually play tremendously well against Watford on Saturday, but still registered a goal and won the penalty for Roberto Firmino’s equaliser, too.

The fact his end product is consistent, even when he’s off the pace of the game, is tremendous, although Liverpool surely see Salah as an addition to Coutinho, not a replacement.

As a club, we’ve promised not to sell the Brazilian, despite his transfer request – so right now – predict he’ll be in the squad come the end of August.

If he did leave though, it’s a central playmaker we’d need to replace him – not a wing-forward.
