James Milner was so good against Maribor last night that there have been calls from some fans to give him the captain’s armband permanently!
For many, he was our best player in the Champions League clash, despite not scoring in the 7-0 drubbing.

Filling in as skipper for Jordan Henderson, Milner played just to the right of Emre Can in the no.6 role and performed exceptionally.
From here, he linked up superbly with Mo Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold, working hard, passing forward and delivering telling final balls.
Not once did he look up, turn around and ping the ball to Loris Karius or one of the centre-backs, which is undeniably something Jordan Henderson is guilty of.
We’re pretty sure the captain will come back at the weekend, but we’d like Milner to keep his spot, perhaps ahead of Gini Wijnaldum.
