Why Griezmann news could be good for Liverpool…

Mundo Deportivo may have moved on from pushing Coutinho to Barcelona every day to Antoine Griezmann, instead.

The Catalan daily has been more desperate than anyone for our Brazilian to make the switch to Camp Nou, publishing daily stories about the proposed transfer since June.

But today, they’ve run with a backpage lead which claims Barca have already made an enquiry for Atletico Madrid’s world-class Frenchman – who’d likely be an alternative to Phil.

Obviously, we have to take their claims with the same pinch of salt we treat the Coutinho ones, but if Barca did spend £100m+ on Griezmann, they’d be unlikely to do the same with another player immediately.

Regardless, neither Atleti or Liverpool will sell this January, so Barca will have to wait until next summer.

If we haven’t qualified for the Champions League, we’ll be in no position to keep Coutinho – so our priority right now is to get back on winning ways against Huddersfield tomorrow.
