Liverpool set to award Firmino a ‘Lifetime Contract’ in unprecedented move

Liverpool rate Roberto Firmino so highly that we’re about to offer him a contract that will keep him at Anfield for life if signed.

The exact figures haven’t been presented yet, but Liverpool are going to make him one of the highest players in the history of the club, with Chris Bascombe claiming in the Telegraph he’ll be a direct financial ‘beneficiary’ of the £142m Coutinho windfall.

According to his piece, Liverpool are determined not to lose any other key players – namely Firmino, Sadio Mane or Mo Salah – after Barcelona bullied their way to Phil.

Big contracts will be offered, including one for Bobby that won’t have a specific timeframe but will last his career – like Andres Iniesta has at Camp Nou.

Of course, the Coutinho saga proves that contracts don’t guarantee anything if a player is desperate to leave. The playmaker had four years left on his and was sold, but there’s a feeling that Firmino, Mane and Salah are happier at the club and don’t see Barca or Real Madrid as an automatic ‘Next Step’.

Here’s hoping, anyway.
