‘The lad’s just that good’ – Incredible quotes about LFC’s marquee 2018 signing

He’s not going to help us on Saturday, but Naby Keita is going to be an incredible player for Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp.

The young Guinean is officially joining the club on July 1, after Liverpool secured his future transfer in 2017.

As a result, we’ve had to watch his development from afar, but it won’t be long before he’s wearing Steven Gerrard’s old no.8 shirt and hopefully working wonders.

His manager at Rb Leipzig Ralph Hasenhuttl has not held back in praising his former player, either.

“The lad’s just that good,” Hasenhuttl told Bild.

“He’s a pro through and through, he lives and breathes football.

“Even if he wins the Champions League, Jurgen [Klopp] will be thankful for the reinforcement. He will join an already incredible squad.

“But if there’s one player I don’t have any fear that he can make it at every club in the world, then that’s Naby.”

Keita’s attributes make him perfect for one of the box-to-box roles in Klopp’s 4-3-3.

Firstly, he never stops running, so will provide the side with energy and dynamism. Secondly, he has exceptional creative and technical ability, so can thread passes to forwards and make chances for team-mates, thanks to his vision. Thirdly, he’s a brilliant dribbler – so has a variety of ways to transfer defence to attack. Lastly, he’s combative and capable of winning the ball back – either through tackles or interceptions.

Imagine a player who can do all this, behind Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mo Salah, and in front of an improved defences marshalled by Virgil van Dijk?
