What Firmino did for Brazil v Austria yesterday…

Roberto Firmino assisted Coutinho for Brazil’s third yesterday in a 3-0 victory over Austria in El Selecao’s final World Cup warmup game.

Liverpool’s no.9 came on after 66 minutes, with manager Tite still preferring Gabriel Jesus as his primary option, and ran the show.

He immediately put his former club team-mate through on goal, before playing a number of clever passes in a withdrawn, attacking midfield role.

Firmino should have scored, too, after Neymar teed him up with back-heel, but sadly missed the opportunity to put the icing on the cake of a terrific cameo performance.

Jesus is going to start for Brazil in Russia, which in our mind is madness considering Firmino outperformed him throughout the entire Premier League and Champions League campaign.

Still, we’ll enjoy seeing him off the bench and we wish him all the luck for the tournament.
