Key Liverpool player already has injury scare on international duty

It’s the time of the year Liverpool fans dread most…

The fortnight when countries play mind-numbing international football and we have to patiently wait for domestic football to start from behind the sofa, praying our best players don’t pick up injuries, which they invariably do.

Adam Lallana got one last month and hasn’t featured since, but now there’s concerns about no.8 Naby Keita.

Journalist Chris Williams has tracked down a report for us that claims the midfielder is training alone with Guinea.

We assume this is something to do with his back issue which saw him exit the field v Napoli on a medical cart – but it begs the question – why has he even gone away with his country anyway?

If he’s already injured, it’s not exactly smart, although Guinea do actually have meaningful AFCON Qualification games against Rwanda to get through and not friendlies like many European clubs.

We can only hope he’s sensible with his body, as with James Milner’s injury, Keita was set for a crucial role over the coming weeks.
