Spanish publication claim Alisson was not Klopp’s first choice goalkeeper signing

Spanish publication AS claim that Jurgen Klopp wanted to sign Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak during the summer, but when an offer was knocked back, they moved for Alisson instead.

According to Sport Witness, AS cite Slovenian sources – the country Oblak is from – and say the Reds made a bid of around £84 million to Atletico Madrid for the stopper, but the 25-year-old did not want to make the move.

If true, it would be a stunning revelation – although we are more than happy that it worked out the way it did. Alisson has slotted in immediately and has already racked up six clean sheets in the Premier League.

Oblak is a top goalkeeper, but so is Alisson, as he has shown so far on Merseyside.
