Harry Wilson’s eight goals from outside the area this season is more than double any other player in English football.
The Welshman bagged yet another freekick last night for Derby – this time in the FA Cup against Southampton – with his side eventually progressing on penalties.

But it’s the accuracy of Wilson’s efforts from range which is most impressive. His 15.7% conversion rate from outside the box is the same percentage as Cristiano Ronaldo from ALL OF HIS SHOTS in 2017/18 for Real Madrid.
That’s insane, considering the Portuguese is rightly regarded as one of the deadliest finishers in the history of football and scored 44 goals that season.
UPDATE: Harry Wilson is currently converting 15.7% of his shots from outside the box.

We’re delighted Wilson has done so well for the Rams, and reckon he can push onto 20 goals in all competitions – not bad for a 21-year-old winger.
If he keeps doing the business, Jurgen Klopp will have no choice but to give him a serious look during pre-season.
We need backup wingers to support Sadio Mane and Xherdan Shaqiri, and there’s no reason Wilson can’t make the step up considering his age and potential.
