Maxi Rodriguez only played for Liverpool between 2010 and 2012, but is still regarded as a cult hero on Merseyside!
The Argentine scored 17 goals in 73 appearances in red, before departing for Newell’s Old Boys in his homeland.
He re-signed for that club recently, aged 38, and yesterday scored a beautiful goal against Boca Juniors to announce his return!
What a strike!
Maxi has 170 career club goals – not bad for an attacking midfielder – and 16 for Argentina as well – including his legendary strike at World Cup 2006.
We’re just sad he wasn’t at Liverpool for longer – partly because his song was one of the best we’ve had in decades!
