Fans suggest dreaded Drake curse could upset City’s title hopes

Drake is more than just Canada’s biggest cultural export since Justin Bieber – he also happens to be a massive football fan.

When we say football we mean football in the very broadest sense. Drake has been pictured in Chelsea colours with Frank Lampard, snapped alongside Rio Ferdinand in Manchester United’s kit, and even with Daniel Sturridge in ours. It’s a heinous offence – we know…

He’s worn Manchester City’s sky blue before, but Sergio Agüero took to Instagram to broadcast his apparently blossoming relationship with “Drizzy”.

Why does this matter? Well, because of the so-called “Drake curse”.

Yes, the “Drake curse”. Whichever club shirt Drake is pictured with spells imminent doom for the team that don the ill-fated kit.

It’s happened to us before, as the Tweet above demonstrates; so, with all due respect to the man, let’s hope that our lads don’t run into the rapper any time soon.

Thankfully, Agüero has unknowingly brought the curse to City’s door which could potentially jinx their title charge this season. Of course, this is all conjecture and there were many reasons we were pipped to the post by them in the 2013/14 season.

But still, in a game of so many variables, a bit of bad luck for City wouldn’t go amiss. With eight games of the season still to go, and so much still to play for, we’ll need a lot of luck to get over the line ourselves.
