Anyone who tells you Bayern Munich are not what they once were is ignoring the facts.

The current outfit tops the Bundesliga and has won their past two league matches by an aggregate score of 11-1.

They’ve reached the Champions League semi-finals in six of the past seven seasons, not including this one. They’re an elite, experienced outfit with world-class players all over the field.

Yet, with the score 1-1 at half-time, they needed one goal to go through, on their own patch – and didn’t get a kick.

Liverpool completely schooled them – putting in a defensive, professional masterclass.

As Karl Matchett tweeted, the Germans had two shots on target over two legs – and only scored via our unfortunate own-goal.

When you consider Virgil van Dijk was suspended for the first-leg, this is all the more impressive.

Now, we need to head to Craven Cottage on Sunday and put in just as impressive a performance.
