Sheyi Ojo was once lauded as the most exciting talent in our Academy, above even Trent Alexander-Arnold, but despite making Premier League appearances during Jurgen Klopp’s first season (2015/16) it simply hasn’t worked out for him yet.
The winger has been sent on multiple loans, but he hasn’t showcased his talent sufficiently during any of them to suggest he has a Liverpool future.
But maybe a year under the tutelage of Steven Gerrard at Rangers is exactly what he needs.
The 22-year-old scored a lovely goal in a friendly v Oxford yesterday, which demonstrated his best attacking traits.
Firstly, Ojo uses strength to battle a defender, then speed to get into the box, before finishing with aplomb with his left-foot.
He uses the same nonchalant side-foot technique that Thierry Henry did so many times in the Premier League with Arsenal, in fact.
We just hope he can play regularly and make a big statement north of the border, much like Ryan Kent did in 2018/19.
👏 A great finish from @sheyi_ojo in front of the Copland. pic.twitter.com/UsQfFrXsl6
