Merseyside club Tranmere Rovers have had a busy summer – they’ve signed 12 new players, under the guidance of Micky Mellon as they make their return to League One.
Football Insider claim that the Whites are now looking at Liverpool full back Adam Lewis, after a number of promising appearances during the Reds’ pre-season tour of the US.
The same report suggests that Tranmere have asked whether the Anfield club would be willing to allow the teenager join them on a loan.
With Yasser Larouci exploding on the scene over the summer, and Andy Robertson locking down the starting position in the senior team, it may be wise for Lewis to look elsewhere for game time.
There’d be a fair shout to keep him around the squad this season, and feature for the U23s, but it’s not clear what the player would prefer, with only a handful of the senior team’s fixtures suitable for the player.
Lewis became one of the club’s most promising talents after laying on 13 assists for the U18s, before making a name for himself with the U23s – setting up a further six goals in 30 games.
He can play in either role on the left flank, as a full back and as a midfielder, something we saw over the summer, which shows his versatility.
