Virgil van Dijk has been speaking to TalkSport about his career so far, discussing some of the best moments he has been involved in and the best players he has played with. Unsurprisingly, the Reds feature heavily across the board.

He chose Roberto Firmino as the best player he has played with – an interesting choice over both Sadio Mane and Mo Salah.

Jurgen Klopp had to share the accolade of best manager with Ronald Koeman, the current Netherlands boss who Van Dijk works with for his country.

The 4-0 win over Barcelona last season was picked out as the best game Van Dijk has played in, while it was also the best game he has watched, given he says he has seen it back a few times since.

His favourite kit was the Reds’ kit, while the best atmosphere and best stadium he has competed in was Anfield.

He picked Sergio Aguero as his most difficult opponent, while Gini Wijnaldum was overlooked as the best Dutch player of all time in favour of Marco van Basten – which is probably fair enough! Van Dijk picked Ronaldinho as his favourite ever player.

It feels like Van Dijk has been at the club for an age given the impact he has had, but in reality, it’s not been that long. To have created so many memories, though, shows he’s had a decent time so far, with plenty more to come, hopefully sooner rather than later.
