Liverpool have plans for an intensive and specialised training programme for stand-in goalkeeper Adrian, who’ll undergo the sessions during the international break.
According to Dom King of the Mail, the Spaniard will start against Newcastle next time out with Alisson still suffering from a calf injury – but the fact we’re putting so much attention into his improvement and implementation into our style – suggests the Brazilian is not on the cusp of a return.
The assumption is Adrian will be drilled on what to do with the ball at his feet – as this has been when he’s perhaps looked shakiest.
Adrian is set for a week of intensive training sessions at Melwood to help get him up to speed. Non-international players have time off but he will spend some days working on different aspects of his game to be ready for Newcastle on Sept 14 🔴

In fairness, Adrian has done alright so far – bar his horrible mistake against Southampton – which thankfully didn’t cost us any points.
He put in easily his best performance against Burnley last time out, making a few key saves and one stunning one when their attacker had already been ruled offside.
We feel pretty safe with him between the sticks, actually, but Alisson is arguably the best on the planet and obviously it’s important he returns as soon as possible.
Still, another clean-sheet at Anfield versus Steve Bruce’s men will be the expectation on Saturday 14th.
