“They’ll take all three points” – Michael Owen backs Liverpool to beat Napoli

Former England international Michael Owen has weighed in on Liverpool’s forthcoming fixture against Napoli in the Champions League.

A win is especially important to the Reds this week, as all three of Liverpool, Napoli and Salzburg are in a position in which they could quite easily win the group.

Topping the group isn’t so important to the reigning champions, but making sure we don’t slip to third place is crucial, and a win against Napoli will sort that out for us.

Owen has suggested that our performance against Crystal Palace will have little impact on this European game, citing that the fixture against Manchester City shows what we’re made of.

Napoli are without a win in their last six in all competitions and currently sit seventh in Serie A,he told BetVictor (via The Sport Review).

Holders Liverpool will be through to the last 16 of the competition with a win and they will be looking for revenge having lost the reverse fixture in Italy, for the second successive season, on Matchday One.

The Reds rode their luck at Selhurst Park on Saturday but they were excellent against City in their last home game, and I believe they will take all three points from what promises to be another wonderful Anfield occasion.

Napoli are without talisman Lorenzo Insigne, and while we wish him all the best, it does provide an opportunity for the Reds to play with a little less fear.

Our record at Anfield is incredible, and hopefully we can further extend it against the Italians on Wednesday night.
