Respected German football journalist Raphael Honigstein has praised our in-form Brazilian forward Roberto Firmino.
The Brazilian, who scored his eighth goal of the season in the win against Palace last weekend, is well-known by Honigstein after a successful four-year spell with Hoffenheim.
“He has so much confidence at the moment,” said Honigstein.
“He doesn’t play like somebody who’s thinking, who’s questioning himself, and that’s very different to the beginning of his Liverpool career.” (via official site)
Firmino only scored once before Christmas in our 4-1 win against Man City, but has scored seven times since 13th January, including a brace against both Arsenal and Norwich. He also picked up the PFA Player of the Month award in February.
“In terms of potential and technical ability he’s a wonderful player, but he also needs that bit of extra confidence to make it show every single week” added Honigstein.
Is it his change in position has arguably made the difference? He returned to goalscoring ways around the time Klopp started using him as a false nine.
Or is it just a case of settling in and adapting to life at a new club? Let us know in the comments.
