Clyne over the moon with impressive performance against WBA

We beat West Brom 2-1 on Saturday evening.

The result briefly lifted us up to second, but we’ll end the weekend in third after Man City’s point against Southampton earlier today.

First half goals from Sadio Mane and Phil Coutinho put us on the right path, and despite a nervy final ten minutes when Gareth McAuley got a lucky goal from the, we held on for a massive three points.

Klopp and the players were all delighted. None more so, it seems, than Nathaniel Clyne.

The England right-back has been speaking to the official site in the aftermath of the game and has been praising our thoroughly professional approach.

“It was a very professional performance, we knew what we had to do out there to get the three points,” he said.

“We played really well, especially in the first half when we took the game to them and were really bright – they couldn’t live with us.

“We’re disappointed not to kick on the in the second half but we stuck in there and managed to defend what they threw at us. We’re happy with the three points.”

Next up for Liverpool is a home game against Spurs on Tuesday night in the League Cup fourth round. Then we go to Palace in the league next weekend as we enter a run of games that look much easier – at least on paper.
