We are currently experiencing what is our third-best start to a Premier League campaign after ten games of the season.
Only twice before have we managed to amass more than the 23 points we currently have from our start to the season, and it must be noted that in neither of those seasons did we endure such a tough start to the campaign.
In 2002/03 we won seven and drew three of the first ten outings, giving us 24 points and leaving us one point better off than we are this season.
In 2008/09 we collected 26 points from a possible 30 under the guidance and tutelage of Rafa Benitez. It was a season that we should have won the league after only losing twice all year.
In 2003 we dropped away badly and eventually limped home in fifth place with 68 points. Chelsea beat us on the final day of the season to deny us a Champions League spot.
