There were so many moments to talk about from Saturday’s Liverpool Legends game and Robbie Fowler scoring at Anfield again is certainly near the top of the list.
It was by no means in his prime, but the striker proved throughout that he still possesses the same exquisite touch and the same class on the ball that helped make him so deadly in front of goal back in the day.
Seeing the likes of Fowler, Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher line-up together again was truly special and a timely reminder of some glorious moments in this club’s history.
Fowler was gifted a chance to make his mark in the 65th minute when Steven Gerrard earned a penalty after being brought down by Real Madrid goalkeeper Jerzy Dudek- who, by the way, pulled off some outstanding saves on the day.
Gerrard selflessly handed the honours over to Fowler, who made no mistake with his spot-kick by beating Liverpool’s Istanbul penalty hero in front of the Kop.
