Hicks & Gillett plan to attend tonight’s game

Spirit of Shankly has notified it’s members that they will not be any demonstrations against Hicks & Gillett tonight. The American duo are expected to attend the Europa League semi-final at Anfield this evening.

Here is the Spirit of Shankly statement in full.

Spirit of Shankly has received information that Tom Hicks and George Gillett are due to be in attendance at tonight’s Europa League semi-final against Atletico Madrid, despite the recent news of them finally stepping down as chairmen of our football club and officially putting the club up for sale. Their visit is only likely to further rub salt into our wounds, and will no doubt be paid for at great expense by us.

Due to the nature of tonight’s game there will be no planned demonstration before or after the match.

This is not to say, however, that our feelings and stance towards them has changed or softened. Tom and George are still not, and never will be, welcome at Anfield.

We have reason to believe that they will also be in attendance at Sunday’s game against Chelsea. We would like to make it clear to Hicks and Gillett that if they plan to attend on Sunday, we will be there to meet them and will stop them gaining entry. We will inform fans further of any planned demonstrations for Sunday.

The club may be for sale, but it still is not sold. The fight is not over.

Tom and George – Sell the club. You’re still Not Welcome Here

  1. “You’ll Never be Welcome at Anfield” – Y.N.W.A. or rather, the opposite of the YNWA we all know at love.

  2. We don’t know who liverpool’s future owners will be but one thing is sure.As long as we have supporters the likes of SOS and others joining the fight to prevent this great club from being in the wrong hands our future is safe. This whole campaign exposing what these Americans whole aim and objective has been is inspirational. There is only one message for any prospective buyer.Do right by this club or you will be met with the most passionate response that has helped form our history. We will protect our club from speculators. The fans indirectly own this club.Whoever gets it must never forget it.

  3. They just dont understand. Hicks talks to Wall street about the great value he expects to make from the club and then has the brass neck to attend tonights game. Snake oil salesman, carpet baggers. Use whatever term you like. I prefer liars.

  4. SOS besmirch the name ofo ur great Manager. Hicks will bleed us dry in the sale of the club because of them.

  5. The arrogance of this article amazes me. Yes I hate Hicks and Gillett for what they have done to our club, but bully boy tactics are not, never have been and never should be acceptable or the way forward. The club is up for sale there are interested parties how do we know that the reason for the idiots being in the uk is not to tie up a deal and introduce any perspective owner to Anfield. I ask you if you where looking to invest 500million in our football club and you witnessed a very personal attack on the current owners would you want to invest thinking that the same could happen to you. I know I wouldnt. So come on boys a little bit of decorum and dignity is required now. You have achieved a great deal of your aims lets show the watching football world that Reds fans know how to conduct themselves.
