He might not have enjoyed much joy on the pitch over the last twelve months, but Mario Balotelli has at least scooped one accolade this year, with GQ Magazine voting him the ‘most stylish man alive’.

Amusingly, the popular American publication describes the Italian as European football’s Allen Iverson – a former US basketball player – in this short article. The piece, which features a gallery of Mario’s best snaps, also kindly labels the out-of-form striker as ‘erratic on the field and a walking PR disaster off it’.

More encouragingly for the 24-year-old, he’s beaten out competition from fellow footballers David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo to win the accolade, as well as the likes of Eddie Redmayne, Brad Pitt and Harry Styles.

GQ claims to have asked Mario about his best dressed teammate at Liverpool and, unsurprisingly, the former AC Milan and Manchester City star voted for himself.
