Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli did at least manage to crack a smile this week, as his friends joined him to celebrate his 25th birthday, dousing him with several bottles of champagne in the process.
The striker posted the footage in the video below on his Instagram account. It shows him being serenaded by his guests with a rendition of the happy birthday song, before they emerge to attack him with their bottles of bubbly, much to the delight of those watching and filming.
Balotelli, who has been told he has no future at Anfield and only yesterday was slammed by fellow Italian and former Premier League striker Paulo Di Canio (via the Liverpool Echo), looked in high spirits as he attempted his escape.

The former Inter Milan, Manchester City and AC Milan striker scored just one Premier League goal for the Reds last season. Unsurprisingly, he played no part in our Premier League opener against Stoke City on Sunday, with Danny Ings and Divock Origi on the bench as back-up to new first-choice centre-forward Christian Benteke.
