(Video) Roberto Firmino’s individual highlights v Sunderland show real promise

On another day, Roberto Firmino could’ve had a hat-trick and two assists last night v Sunderland!

As it was, he didn’t score or create a goal, but thankfully, was much improved from recent showings. Starting as one of three ‘no.10s’ behind Christian Benteke, Firmino’s touch was improved tenfold and he regularly got himself in game changing positions.

Early on, the Brazilian fluffed a one-on-one, but then slammed a 25-yarder onto the post before coming close with a header as well.

In the second, he laid first Jordon Ibe and then Benteke through on goal. Both should have scored, which would have earned Firmino an assist with the former Hoffenheim man on three for the season so far.

Firmino needs to keep up the good work. Too often his good games have been followed by indifferent ones, but now he’s been in England for six months and will be fully up to speed, it’s time for him to start proving he’s a £29m footballer.

Thankfully, he definitely has the talent to do it.
