Liverpool battling with Spurs for Coventry starlet [Reliable Source]

The Echo are reporting that we are set to go up against Spurs for the signature of the highly rated Coventry teenager James Maddison.

James Pearce writes that we discussed a possible move with the Sky Blues in January, but were told there would be no deal before the summer.

The 19-year-old attacking midfielder has played 12 times in League One this season, scoring two goals in the process (via WhoScored). He also came on as a substitute in their solitary League Cup game.

Pearce claims we’ve been scouting the player for a long time and are hopeful of securing a deal, though Spurs are also keen.

It’s vital that we don’t lose out on another player to Spurs. We let Dele Alli slip through our fingers last summer and he is quickly proving to be one of the finest young players in the league.
