Marouane Fellaini is an enigma. How does he not get sent off ten times per season?! He’s all hair and elbows, and not much else.
Van Gaal made him United’s sole outlet on Thursday night – every time they got the ball they went long to the ex-Everton man. Curiously, he was beaten in the air by Adam Lallana on more than one occasion.
It was his antics in the final seconds of the game that have drawn most attention, however.
The referee was bringing his whistle to his mouth to blow for full-time, then this happened:
It’s not even just the elbow – look at the deliberate stamp with his boot as well. What a disgusting individual.
Amazingly, none of the five on-pitch officials, nor the fourth official, noticed the incident. It will surely be reviewed as a matter of urgency by UEFA’s disciplinary committee. A ban is almost certainly going to be forthcoming.
Is it really good news for us if he is banned though?! He was hugely ineffective for the vast majority of the game; with the speed of a dead slug and the footwork of Prince Charles, it was like playing against ten men!
