Milner named as Europe’s fourth-best player, according to official UEFA website

Who are Europe’s top plays? Ronaldo? Pogba? Ramos? …. Milner?

We don’t want to criticise Milner’s abilities or talents – he was great for us in the second half of the season – but we think it’s fair to assume even James himself won’t think of himself as one of Europe’s highest elite.

Yet, according to UEFA’s official website, Milner is currently the fourth best player on the continent at the moment.

UEFA are trying to judge players’ form ahead of the big kick-off in France. They ranked Ronaldo in first place, Ibrahimovic in second, and Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann in third.

Milner is ahead of Saúl Ñíguez, who is fifth. The rest of the top ten is dominated by players who played in the weekend’s Champions League final.

In their notes, they say the following:

“[Milner had] seven assists in four games between 7 and 20 April (three of those in UEFA Europa League, which has a higher weight) and has provided assists for 30 shots in nine games.”

Awesome stuff. A well-deserved fouth place we say!
