Jordon Ibe caused a massive stir among Liverpool fans the other day when he was pictured in a West Ham training top.

It brought back memories of the whole Paul Ince / West Ham / Man Utd saga in the early nineties – was it possible the that the Hammers were finally giving the league’s bigger clubs a taste of their own medicine? After all, Ibe’s future at the club remains very uncertain, it seems at the very least he’ll be sent out on loan for a season.

Well – actually – the whole incident has a rather innocent explanation.

According to the Echo, Ibe was simply having a kickabout with some friends in a local park when he agreed to pose for some snaps.

But how did he end up in the shirt?

Well, he was playing with his good friend Nathan Mavila, who is a West Ham academy player. He lent Ibe a shirt for the mini-game, with the top in question reportedly belonging to France international Dimitri Payet.

Let’s hope some of his skill rubs off on Ibe!
