Klopp looking for ‘solution’ to Allen issue

In what has been one of the more divisive rumours among Liverpool fans this summer, Joe Allen has been repeatedly linked with a move away from Anfield. Jurgen Klopp certainly hasn’t moved to quash the rumours, but he has claimed that a solution is in the offing, as reported by the BBC.

As the report suggests, we’ve been getting enquiries from a number of clubs regarding his signature. A return to Swansea has seemed the most likely move, but it’s unclear whether the Welshman will be leaving at all.

He put in a number of fine performances during Wales’ surprisingly successful Euro 2016 campaign, and the midfielder could still play a part at Liverpool. Klopp claims talks will be held with Allen over his future, and a decision will be made to decide the best course of action.

“We will find a solution but it’s not done,” he said.

“Obviously Joe Allen is a good player. We never doubted this. He played a good European Championship, like the whole Welsh team.

“We have to make decisions, we have to find solutions. We have to talk to the player, ask the player and think about our situation. That’s how it works.”

Considering the cost of a top quality midfielder in the modern game, it’s hard to see us replacing Allen with anyone who could possibly be an improvement for anywhere close to the fee we’re likely to get for him.

It could all come down to whether the player believes he’ll get the game time he wants next season and whether Klopp believes he fits his style of play.
