Reds legend says he thinks Alberto Moreno’s Anfield career is over

Jamie Carragher has said he thinks Liverpool will sign a left-back in the next transfer window.

He says Alberto Moreno’s time at Liverpool has come to an end after he lost his place to James Milner, and Klopp will surely look for some sort of reinforcements.

Moreno played the first game of the season against Arsenal where he gave away a daft penalty and was caught out of position for their opening goal, but since then he hasn’t featured. In truth, he probably would not have played in that game either if Milner hadn’t picked up a knock against Barcelona in a friendly the week before.

“If you’re a left back and the manager is playing a right midfielder ahead of you, it probably tells you your time is up at the club,” he said (said on TalkSport radio, cited on Mirror)

“Milner would become back up and it wouldn’t be too bad then.

“I must say he’s done very well but at this stage of his career it is not easy, but I don’t think it could last for a full season and I am sure Klopp and his team are scouting for a left back.”

Liverpool were linked with Ben Chilwell from Leicester and Koln’s German international Jonas Hector in the summer, but ultimately no one was signed.

Milner has been great so far, but he does have a tendency to want to switch onto his right foot before crossing, which sometimes slows down our attacks.

Do you agree with Carra?
