Klopp highlights the biggest difference between the Premier League and the Championship

Jurgen Klopp has been speaking to the media ahead of tomorrow night’s game against Derby County in the third round of the League Cup.

After beating Burton Albion 5-0 in Round Two we booked a trip to the former Premier League side, while they overcame Grimsby Town 1-0 in the first round and then needed penalties to get past Carlisle in Round Two.

Despite getting this far in the cup, their domestic season has not been going as planned. They lie down in 20th place in the Championship after only picking up one win and four points from their eight games so far. It’s left them eight points outside the playoffs and only one point above the bottom three.

Klopp, however, doesn’t think their poor form is a reason to be complacent. He says that the only difference between sides in the Premier League and the sides in the Championship is consistency.

“I have worked a long time in my life in the second division and the biggest difference to the first division is very often only consistency. There are a lot of players in the second division who could play in the first division.

“But because they aren’t as consistent they play a league lower. On their best day they are a Premier League team.” he said. (Echo)
