1990s star who played for Liverpool and United backs Klopp, slams Mourinho

Paul Ince is a divisive figure in the history of Liverpool and Man Utd. He is one of the few players to play for both sides, and possibly the only one to be named full-time captain of both sides.

He spent six years at United between 1989 and 1995, and after a brief two-year stint in Italy with Inter Milan, he moved to Anfield to spend two years with us.

With the imminent battle between ourselves and Man Utd on Monday night at Anfield, the former star has been offering his thoughts on the two squads. He firmly believes we are in the stronger position, and has slammed Jose Mourinho for his rotation policy and inconsistency.

Liverpool are a stronger outfit than United,” he said. (Echo)

“Jose Mourinho still doesn’t seem to know his best XI. He’s chopping and changing, and when you do that it brings inconsistency as you can see with some of the results domestically and in Europe.

“United have far more work to do to get to the level Liverpool are currently at. Jurgen Klopp has had more than a year there now, he’s has had time to get his team set up and playing the style he wants.” (Echo)

He also revealed which Liverpool vs Man Utd game was his most memorable. There are no prizes for guessing which one he chose — the 3-3 draw at Anfield in 1994.

He claims it was the best 90 minutes Ie has ever seen a Manchester United team play without winning.
