Emre Can’s comments give Liverpool fans further hope following Instagram post

For the first time in months, we’re holding out a little hope that Emre Can may perform a dramatic u-turn and stay with Liverpool.

The German, who was so brilliant against Manchester City on Sunday, is out of contract in the summer and most have assumed he’d already reached an agreement with Juventus, the favourites for his signature.

But Can claims no decision has been made and that there’s a chance he could remain at ‘amazing’ Liverpool.

“I know you have to ask [about my contract],” Can told the Times. “My agent is looking after everything but I am here until the summer. I haven’t signed anything [with Juventus] or anyone. I am talking with everyone.

“Of course I am talking with Liverpool. Why not? I still have a contract here. It is an amazing club.

“What can I say? My agent does the rest. I just concentrate on the scene, on my performance and the football. I will give everything for this team.”

Fans became particularly excited yesterday, when an Instagram post by Dejan Lovren circled the web, as it featured a picture of Emre Can – with Daniel Sturridge and Alberto Moreno commenting with money emojis – suggesting he may have reached an agreement with the club.

However, it later turned out that the pair were referring to the fine in which Lovren would have to pay for uploading a snap of the dressing room to social media.

With Can this season, we’re unbeaten in the Premier League. He’s the best holding midfielder we have and we really hope the club gives him whatever he wants and can announce an unexpected extension this month.
