Joel Matip has been heavily criticised in recent weeks – and rightly so.
The Cameroonian was poor against Swansea and shocking versus West Brom in the FA Cup defeat.
But against Huddersfield last night his performance seriously improved – helping the Reds to a clean-sheet alongside Dejan Lovren, rather than £75m man Virgil van Dijk.
According to PL stats man Simon Brundish, Matip’s 161 passes was the most of any Liverpool player in the competition’s history!
We’d prefer Matip racked up clean-sheet and defensive records, but this shows hot utterly dominant Jurgen Klopp’s side was against David Wagner’s men.
