Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain injured his knee ligaments on Tuesday night, and by doing so, will miss the rest of Liverpool’s Champions League campaign and the World Cup with England.
It’s a real travesty, as his recent form had made him a starter for both club and country.
But instead of feeling sorry for himself, the Englishman posted this superb message on social media for his followers to see.
In it, he promised to support his fellow team-mates, but more importantly, said his current plight is nothing compared to 53-year-old Irishman Sean Cox, who was stabbed by a Roma fan before the game this week.
Cox is currently fighting for his life in hospital – and Ox has seen the bigger picture.
What a brilliant gesture at a time when he must be feeling so low personally.
We wish both of them, but especially Cox, the best of luck in their recoveries.
