Sky Sports: Arsenal do want Buvac… And here’s why

Arsenal’s interest in appointing Zeljko Buvac to take over from Arsene Wenger is genuine, reports Sky Sports.

News broke before our Champions League semi-final that the 56-year-old had departed Liverpool, having worked as Jurgen Klopp’s no.2 for 17 years.

Multiple theories circled, but in the end, the one that suggested Buvac is eyeing up a move to the Emirates as Arsene Wenger’s replacement seems the most likely.

According to Sky Sports, Buvac is wanted by Arsenal’s head of recruitment Sven Mislintat, who used to work alongside the Bosnian at Borussia Dortmund.

A three-man management set-up with Mislintat, Raul Sanllehi as head of football relations and Buvac as head-coach is now looking most likely, they reckon…

Buvac has always been a shy man and someone who preferred to conduct his business on the training ground and away from the public eye, so it’s going to be a mighty big step.

Still, you have to admire Arsenal for taking such a risk, just as they did when they appointed Wenger 22 years ago.

We would say we wish him plenty of luck, but with the Gunners being a direct rival, it’s not something we can really do!
