One part that especially interested us though was a throwaway comment on Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who Maddock reckons will actually be back much sooner than the club has claimed…

“A bit of caution though…,” he began. “Coutinho and Can have gone, and Oxlade-Chamberlain could be out for a year (though I still suspect he will be back sooner). They have only brought in two midfielders to replace them, and are looking for Grujic, perhaps, to fill the third spot. So in terms of additions, it’s only a keeper and a forward – though personally I think Keita is a massive upgrade on Can.”

The current estimate is that our English midfielder will be out for the entire campaign, although Maddock reckons the club has overstated this so that there’s no pressure on his return, like there was on Adam Lallana last term, for example.

Ox recently uploaded an Instagram snap of himself on holiday with Liverpool’s club physio!

We hope he’s getting the rest and recuperation he needs. Before his injury, the 24-year-old was looking like an elite attacking midfielder.
